"This is the Stone which was rejected by you builders, but which has become the head of the corner. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:11-12

In Psalm 118 David prophesies about the Lord Christ: The stones which the builders rejected has become the Cornerstone. The Lord made this happen, and it is a miracle to our eyes.

That this prophesy solely and alone points to Christ, He Himself teaches, Mat. 21, as does St. Peter, Acts. 4. This very same Christ, our Savior, is called the Stone became He is the sole, solid Foundation of our salvation. He has been made by His heavenly Father to be the Cornerstone of the spiritual House of His Church. However, this Stone was rejected by the builders. By the builders are meant the pharisees, scribes, and high priests of Jerusalem, who were living at the time when Christ traveled about in the days of His flesh [earthly life], as Peter explains in Acts 4. For these very scribes and high priests were ordained by God to be spiritual builders, so that they should raise up other people as living stones into a spiritual house, as Peter writes (1 Peter 2). They were to build themselves and others on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, of which Jesus Christ is the Cornerstone, Eph. 2.
