pon entering Mount Olive for worship, you may notice our beautiful stained glass with many depictions of Jesus. You may have already noticed the cross with the figure of Jesus hanging on it in the narthex. You may hear our beautiful pipe organ playing the prelude. All of this is there to take us from the world that we live in and lead us into the Kingdom of God, which is here as we gather in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Our worship style is ancient (some of it predates Christ) and replete with Scripture. We worship in this way because we are sinners and if we worship from our hearts, our worship will reflect our sinful hearts (Mark 7:21-23), but if we speak back to God the words which He has given us, we then know that we have it right. To this end, the vast majority of our worship is taken directly from the words of the Bible as it is God's Word to us. We are singers at Mount Olive. Our hymns are rich in deep theology. Sometimes the tunes are difficult, especially if you are not familiar with them. That's okay, if you want, just relax and read along and enjoy the rich words. Ultimately our goal in worship is to receive from the hand of God His peace and pardon for our stricken consciences and to sing His praises.
